In 1964, Ron Walker discovers an unusual blue-black vase during a Camden house clearance. When water touches its surface, three linked circles flare gold. Beneath the family garden shed, Ron uncovers a hidden chamber and a mysterious white wall — a gateway he is too frightened to explore. He seals the chamber and parts with the vase.
Thirty years later, in 1994, the same vase finds its way back to the Walker family through another house clearance. Arthur Walker uncovers the hidden chamber, while his ten-year-old son Elliot watches from the shadows. Soon, a voice imitating Arthur lures his wife, Evelyn, through the gateway. She vanishes into Pallay, a beautiful and mysterious world. Six weeks later, Arthur follows to rescue her but arrives in the war-torn world of Zark instead.
Back in Camden, eighteen-year-old Tim takes responsibility for raising his younger brother, Elliot. In 2004, Elliot, now twenty, meets Rachel, who will become central to the family’s future. In 2026, thirty-two years after the disappearances, the vase awakens again. Elliot and Rachel, both forty-two, and Tim, now fifty, return to the locked shed and the gateway beneath it. Beyond the white wall, the scarred ruler Malakay is fighting to recover the Third Vase and restore his power over Zark.
Three ancient vases govern Passage, Control and Return. As Elliot searches for his father and Rachel becomes the key to crossing between worlds, the Walker family must confront a conflict that has kept them apart for more than three decades.
